On Route to Barcelona… Viva Espania

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

Rest over, back on the road again, now heading at a rate of knots in the general direction of Barcelona. A quick stop in Valencia will get Richard from Hemsec the orange he has requested and then it will be some serious tarmac time until we reach Spain’s cultural capital for another short rest. We’re starting to feel the pressure getting back on the bikes after our previous rest stop as our muscles readjust to a battering daily.

We’ll only be having a short pit stop in Barcelona and then the next big target ahead is Paris… Gotta keep the heads down and get back into the rhythm… thanks to all our sponsors!

Finally…a rest day!

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

As you know we finally made it to Cadiz, and no campsite. Nothing else for it, Marbella here we come for a day’s rest then on with the journey. Hey whats that, I’m not speeding - oh a police escort!.. Thank you very much! And so our weird and wonderful travels continue, then just when it can get no more surreal what’s this - our fan club has arrived to meet us, damn gonna have to do a nice lunch then!

We can’t quite believe that we are now on the way back but for those of you who have checked out our journey page you will know that we are taking a different route home and there are going to be lots more sites to see along the way home… Seems a bit strange having a break from the road, particularly with our fans, basically a group of guys we do business with week in week out, it’s almost like a mid-journey site meeting, just with better weather!

Ah… and before I forget… thanks to everybody who has sponsored us to get this far - Today is Durnien.com day, thanks Victoria Durnien!

Thanks NyreeThanks Nyree

Hello everyone, we’re a third of the way through our journey and though it about time we posted an update about our antics so far.

After leaving The Green House in Holywood, Northern Ireland at 9.00 am on Wednesday the 15th April we are making good time on our trip and today we are heading towards Caceres on Leg 8 of our journey. So far we have experiences all the joys of long distance motorbike travel from a good soaking in Ireland, communication problems in Wales and sore backsides by the time we reached France.

That said we have met some of the most wonderful, interesting and helpful people imaginable on our trip so far. From the ATS man who has sponsored us for free tyres if required anywhere in Europe to Nyree at AMERICAN EXPRESS who arrange accommodation for us when we lost our way to the campsite, while tired, soaked and aching (by the way the advert on the thanks on the napkin I promised is below Nyree.) everyone has been delightful and we thank them all heartily for their assistance..
